Ball of the Foot Pain

Ball of the foot pain

The metatarsal region or ball of the foot is the area between the arch and toes. Pain in the ball of the foot, or metatarsalgia, is generally not a serious condition, but it can be aggravated to the point where normal activities and exercise can become extremely painful.

Certain foot shapes might be subject to undue stress in the metatarsal region thus causing pain and discomfort in the front area of the foot just below the toes.

Orthotic insoles are often recommended to relieve the symptoms caused by metatarsalgia, or pain in the ball of the foot.
